side note: I got the little growth chart things at Lilypie.com, for free, I think they are super cute!
Okay, well all this past weekend I was walking around our house trying to figure out what the putrid smell was that I was smelling. I was blaming it on everyone and everything. Then on Sunday afternoon, I curled up in our bed with Jilly to rest for just a little bit and then it struck me (the smell got lots worse) it was her HEMANGIOMA that was smelling so bad. I got Keith to come and confirm what I was thinking. So we didn't think much of it and knew that Monday we would call the doc. So fast forward to Monday 5am, Keith got up with Jillian to give her a bottle at 5am (you gotta love him) and then put her on her belly (we always do this because she rests so much better on her tummy and since we know we are basically up for the day we feel okay doing so, as we can check on her). So around 8am I picked Jillian up to put her is the car seat to head out the door to start our day and on her crib sheet where she had been lying was green puss and small amount of blood. Okay, so I tried to remain calm and went ahead and put her in her seat, knowing that regardless of what was going on we would have to come to town. So we got her into the doctor's office around 10am and they confirmed that part of it had bursted and had become infected (the smell) and gave us a prescription for a topical antibiotic cream ($50) SO expensive for such a small tube, but if it works! This should clear it up, although it is noon on Tuesday and is not looking much better. Doc also gave a prescrip for an oral antibiotic, if the cream doesn't work. She is not happy and doesn't want you to go near her little spot! So on monday we go to PED plastic surgeon to hopefully start the steroid shots. The smell is still STRONG. And I feel like a bad mother but it is almost more than my stomach can take!
